Full review
Binance was launched in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and within a year became the largest crypto exchange by volume. It has no single official headquarters and operates through local entities.
Binance holds registrations or licences in several jurisdictions, including VARA in Dubai, PSAN registration with France's AMF, registrations with Italy's OAM and the Bank of Spain, and a licence from the Central Bank of Bahrain. In November 2023 Binance pleaded guilty in the US to anti-money-laundering and sanctions violations, paying about $4.3 billion, and CZ stepped down as CEO.
Base spot fees are 0.1% maker/taker, discounted when paying in BNB. Perpetual futures up to 125x, margin, options, copy trading, bots, staking and a P2P marketplace are available. Binance lists hundreds of assets and publishes Proof of Reserves.
Funding is via crypto, cards, bank transfer and P2P. Due to sanctions compliance Binance does not accept residents of Iran, and KYC is mandatory.
