Full review
KuCoin was founded in 2017 and its main entity (Mek Global) is registered in Seychelles. It is known for listing small and mid-cap projects early and for a wide altcoin selection.
In January 2025 KuCoin pleaded guilty in the US to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and AML failures, paying about $297 million and agreeing to exit the US market for two years. It also suffered a roughly $280 million hack in 2020, most of which was recovered or covered. It lacks a major tier-1 licence and serves some markets via local entities.
Base spot fees are 0.1%, reduced when paying with KCS. Futures, margin, a wide set of trading bots, copy trading and earn products are available.
Funding is mainly via crypto, plus cards and P2P. KuCoin's terms restrict sanctioned countries including Iran.
